Hey guys, just a heads-up in advance - I'm pretty sure I won't be able to make the Thursday update, so I'll be aiming for a late Friday update instead. It's just one of those pages! Apologies!! >_<
Making a psychological attack in case the physical attack fails? (Hmmm... I suppose if they figure the Defender is just that good that he would survive and/or beat them.)
Yeah, but for storytelling purposes it's to let the audience know something that there was no other way for the author to get it across.
However, we already learned about Briar smuggling in the dark disc when 'father of the year'* explained it a few pages ago. (*Sorry, can't remember the baddies' name.)
So while it might be a mistake on the part of the author, I'm hoping there actually is an in-story reason for this repeat of information.
I'll be straight - I agree the dialogue on this page is tautological and clunky. The reason this update was squeezed in before work even though the page was actually completed the night before was because it was even worse before. I woke up earlier than usual so I could take another stab at editing it, and though I wasn't 100% happy with the result, a deadline is a deadline. Maybe at a later date I'll pare it down some!
That said, while it serves the perhaps unnecessary purpose of refreshing reader minds, the in-story purpose is for Sir Bradley to hear it as well, which is probably the main point.
Regardless, it's dumb villain-talk and I'm just glad readers are willing to overlook this for the most part XD;;; thank you, everyone, LOL!
What IS it with villains telling all of their plans rather than just jumping right into things? It just gives the good guys the openings they need to strike back.
There actually is an answer for this. Perhaps best expressed by Sir Terry Pratchett (as so many things were).
“Something Vimes had learned as a young guard drifted up from memory. If you have to look along the shaft of an arrow from the wrong end, if a man has you entirely at his mercy, then hope like hell that man is an evil man. Because the evil like power, power over people, and they want to see you in fear. They want you to know you're going to die. So they'll talk. They'll gloat.
They'll watch you squirm. They'll put off the moment of murder like another man will put off a good cigar.
So hope like hell your captor is an evil man. A good man will kill you with hardly a word.”
― Terry Pratchett, Men at Arms
Poor Briar...I really do feel bad for the guy. It's not his fault he turned out a spoiled brat...and hey, he's actually shown some redeemable qualities. Nature vs. nurture :/
Kylie is BOUND to meet Lyn though throughout this mess, right??
I know that Briar and Lyn are in quite the pickle, and that the fate of cities and countries are at stake, but all I can think about is how KYLIE'S JUST A FEW FEET AWAY FROM HER BROTHER
He definitely did a good job catching her in that situation, she would have undoubtedly smashed rather unceremoniously against the bottom edge of the top box otherwise :'D
That top line took me a while to get, once I did though I was crying-laughing too hard XD;;;; poor Ren!!!
They definitely should have spent more time trying to kill things rather than talk but yanno how it goes, they gotta get their brag on and that verbal knife in, it's what makes them ebil XD
Lyn mostly operates out of a 'sixth sense' of sorts, yes -v-)/ while he DOES sense enemies and where they're at, though, there's a lot he has to just guess. Like, what the heck is going on XD
Heyyy, this is the world of Serpamia Flare, where you can get stabbed with icicles through the chest and still come out in one piece, don't worry too much -v-)/
Ah yes, the spoiled teenager running around with a frog "Daddy! Daddy! Look what I caught!" syndrome. Poor defender, he's busy and it's so not his fault that the baby sitting services are really bad there!
Yes, the villians are talkative. Yes, Kylie is only feet away from her brother. But what I'd like to add is that one of the villians must be a mage- he/she has the same ring of [energy?/magic?] around 2 fingers that Madou usually has when he's about to perform a fire spell. Now, I'm not saying this guy is Madou (the color of the energy[?] is greenish-yellow as opposed to Madou's orangey color), but it might be worth mentioning that one of the villians can attack with elemental attacks.
Mentioning this again here since I posted it so late on the last page. XD But Rufi, you might like to know that Tumblr allows you to schedule posts to go up on a later date. It's handy for those of us that need to do things while we're thinking about them or else we're likely to forget (such as myself). X3
Is anybody going to mention the FACT that Kylie was just impaled and there's no cleric around??? what you gonna do? put a band-aid??? c'monnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnasdfasdlkjfhasdkjfhasldkfh
Poor Briar I feel pretty bad for him X"D
OO but we get to see Kylie's bro in action here ::D :D
I'm kinda dying tho for Kylie to make the connection. WHY DOES THIS HAVTA HAPPEN RIGHT NOW WHEN SHE SO CLOSE X"D
I was a bit concerned why Brad Dad went and jumped so far down into the arena to catch Kylie, but then I realized he's still hanging off of the VIP area. That's a dang good catch XD
Oh Lyn, please save Briar, he's a dumb dumb but he doesn't deserve this jerkbuttery from these dudes. Also, Briar, you might want to help dad up over there, he could really help out in your problem.
Whoa! The Defender's got some fancy moves! (and a really strong arm...)
Eeeek this looks bad all around... go Lyn!
But also aaaaaahhh Kylie and Lyn are literally like a meter away from each other and neither of them know it! >.<
Just can't help gloating?

Poor Lyn...
I hope briar is satisfied with this outcome... =S

And is that a PUN I see Proxy
because
I think Kylie's got a WHOLE other problem while Lyn is a bit TIED UP at the moment, HURR HURRR
;D
If only they knew, eh? :')
Also.. someone is suffering from the "too talkative villain" syndrome, that never goes well xD
And lastly... seriously, how does Lyn even operate xD Does he have some 6th sense or something? xD
They definitely should have spent more time trying to kill things rather than talk but yanno how it goes, they gotta get their brag on and that verbal knife in, it's what makes them ebil XD

She hella dead
Just worry a little bit XD
...Earth does sound plausible. But we haven't met too many other mages (or other elemental attackers) to really tell. :/
I think I need to schedule a time for me to schedule things LOL

It's certainly fun for me to draw Lyn whenever he's in action -v-)/
There are a lot of dots missing, unfortunately, from the connect-the-dots puzzle for Kylie and Lyn :'D
It's real neat to see you commenting on CF again btw, Azure-rin! <3

Also the word 'jerkbuttery' is amazing and I just XDDD
...no worries, Rufi *hugs* thank you for letting us know...

Kylie and Lyn are getting lots of screaming at them in the comments, sorry guys XDDD
