Way back on this page, it's mentioned in-comic that Seia doesn't need to use a weapon to use his Lethiace. (If he has one, though, it's better all around!) Probably the more accurate way of saying it is that he doesn't need a seal. (You know, that thing that glowseverytime they use a Lethiace.) Just a tidbit from me to you! ;)
The next update will go up this Friday - until then, boy have I got a long list of cool stuff for you to check out. Sorry for how long it's taken me to dish some of this out, because I got some of these ages ago and just haven't been able to get around to posting about it! Here goes~!
SunnySideUpSmile sent me a burst of really cute fanart, complete with wacky self-inserts, that I was so happily surprised to receive! <33
Thanks so much Sunny, they're super cute! X3 You can check out her profile linked above for her ventures on ComicFury :D <3
While I was going through my motivational crisis (as I do) not long ago, Kat sent me this lovely Kylie fanart to bless me and it's beautiful!!
Thanks so much, Kat! <333 Please check out her lovely tumblr here for more arts and things! :D
I started a Colouring Book Thread on ComicFury, but before I did, I asked for contributions for lineart from super cool friends. Proxy, creator of the amazing Project Arc webcomic surprised me by doing lineart for Ophelia!! Complete with summons!! ;v;*
Such a beautiful surprise homg. <333 Thank you so hard Proxy!!! <333
I was really surprised to get a mention in a Tweet for some really kickass Kylie fanart by Nigel, who creates Wardens of Espora!
Isn't it wonderful?! <333 Thank you so much, it's extremely rare for me to receive fanart on Twitter too O_O ahhh <333
Gladewalker also sent me on the SF forums PMs this wonderful Cain fanart!
When I said the hair looked quite accurate to how it's portrayed in-comic, he said he drew it straight from reference and I was flattered XDDD (Cain's hair is a weird mystery!) Thank you so much Gladewalker!! <33
I am extremely blessed by talented readers who actually put aside time to create these gems, thanks so so much for blessing and reading SF you lovely people <333
Speaking of lovely peeps, TedGrendelis set up a Discord server for the SF readership community, by the way, if you're interested in joining in! :) If you don't know what Discord is, it's a kind of in-browser chat. :) Please feel free to head in and meet other readers, hehe! :D Thank you Ted for setting it up <3
I also wanted to do a bit of a belated shout-out to MST3KFan, who does the effervescent POW! Right in the Nostalgia webcomic. If you don't follow it already, Chase and Char - the flagship ship (see what I did there?) in PRITN, are getting married! I recently drew one of the invite designs in a run of strips about invitation designs in-comic; the arc starts here so you can check out all the really cool designs! :D (They're all good, but Cici's is absolutely gorgeous.) Thanks MST3K for giving other artists the opportunity to take part in a fun event! :D
And one thing I wanted to link, just 'cause I thought it was so cool:
Kenn worked really hard to create this game that combines several webcomics' heroes in an epic multi-verse tale of one-on-one combat, and I really enjoyed it XD Serpamia Flare isn't one of them, but I daresay you'll find a familiar face in there from a webcomic you *do* follow! :D (And if you don't, you'll find something new to love~) You can read CiciEnixa's comments on it in more detail at the bottom of her gallery page here.
This A/N was a bit of a newsletter, wasn't it? XD I hope it brings much entertainment and fun to your day! I know every item here has given me much joy :D <3
Thanks so much for reading, and I'll see you guys on Friday!
Wow, I'm [pleasantly] surprised at how early serpamia flare updated today! Usually, there's at least a couple of comments about the page before I get a chance to look at it...
Great page! I feel like instead of solving one mystery, though, this opened up a new one. :P
Thank you, Digi! >w<* Hopefully, it's not too infuriating (re: moar questions XD). Actually... SF updated on time for the first time in weeks, that's what happened XD;; I will try to update on schedule, as I should!
Ruthford's in the last panel, though I suppose the idea he 'became one with the oak' is somewhat the case since apparently you didn't notice him at first XD
Hum, so Kylie doesn't know how to cast without a weapon. That makes her current situation more interesting for those of us who don't believe she'll just give up. I wonder if she can still cast with the stub of a sword she has left, or if she will learn how to do without on her own. Madou is still missing.
I think I mostly explained this in the A/N, so I'll refrain from repeating myself ;D fufu. And yes, Madou is still off somewhere~ I guess his absence is sorely felt? XD;
So till this point Zion had to use weapon to cast the Liethiance. I assume it's the same case with Kylie. At least I think she thinks she needs it. But she doesn't, she already casted without a weapon in the sacrifice circle. I wonder if that will come back to her or she will figure out it somehow else. But yeah, that's what's happening to Balzac, hopefully not in a deadly way.
Ah, Jarvi-nii, this is interesting. I'm not too sure how to respond without going too far into it... XD; But I'll try! Kylie didn't 'cast' anything when she had her LCF, that's kind of a different thing... though not entirely unrelated... fufu. ;)
As for Balzac, don't worry, he can take care of himself~ :D
Dang, was hoping to see more of the spells they cast to see if it would reveal anything... But I do wonder about this whole "no weapon" casting skill... Kylie has done it before (though she was very out of it), so I don't think the secret needs to be known in order to do it, but somehow knowing so makes it easier/a conscious decision? Hmmmm
This is probably going to enrage you a bit (maybe) but I actually did originally script in what Zion and Ruthford did. However, when it came to this point, because I am actually actively trying to cull pages where necessary due to the engorged size of this chapter so far (my thumbnails are in ridiculous excess of the usual chapter length), I ended up cutting it out. :'D It gets covered again later, anyway, so don't worry~~ -v-*)/
I mentioned this to Jarvi-nii already, but an LCF doesn't really have any 'casting' as such going on in it. But it's also not strictly irrelevant, so... hehe. ;)
Ooooo what did they dooooo...?
I wonder when we'll find out... (whenever Kylie finds out, probably, which I'm sure won't be for quite a while still :/)
Zion that armour actually looks kind of pointy and uncomfortable... does he ever worry about poking himself on it whenever it's stored in his item bag?
Whatever they did, I promise there are hints here and there XD <3
I'm pretty sure item bags are able to keep those kinds of sharp objects from harming their owners, or else it'd be a real challenge every time you needed to pull out your sword XDD Though other people are probably worried about being poked whenever they stand near him... -v-
So many cute fanarts from everyone <3<3<3 Great job, everybody!
I do kind of wonder, which is very related to a previous question on Lethian Knights. Surely not every child had access to a weapon, so did they only find out about their element once they had a weapon? Were they not able to cast without weapons before? (I'm thinking kinda like Harry Potter, where he magically made glass on the snake enclosure disappear without a wand, if that explains my question a bit better)
Ahhh, let's see if I can answer this appropriately XD
Don't you hand small children weaponry from the day they can start to walk? Isn't that normal? :P (Yes, I kid, parent associations please put those weapons down...)
The Harry Potter comparison makes sense to me XD weapons = wands? Hmmm...
Rather than directly replying, I'll just note that Kylie had a recurring memory of an ice-rose when she was struggling to use her Lethiace (on this page, this page and this page - they're kind of in sequence XD). I'm sure that suggests what the answer is to your question! ;D
Great page! I feel like instead of solving one mystery, though, this opened up a new one. :P
It was a pleasure to have you and all the others awesome artists I reached out to do such awesome invitation art for the upcoming story arc!
Now on today's Serpamia Flare page... Hmm...so where's Rutherford here? We see Zion, now where's the other guy after this event?
Hmmm, I guess he became one with the oak to stabilize it???correction: last panel you see his back...
Ruthford's in the last panel, though I suppose the idea he 'became one with the oak' is somewhat the case since apparently you didn't notice him at first XD
Wow, great fanart <3
although with the blade in the shape it's in, I wonder if her accuracy is going to suffer.
I agree that this might shed some light on Kylie's situation. Interesting.
As for Balzac, don't worry, he can take care of himself~ :D
