Happy Thursday! :)

I'm pretty sure the transition into this page is a bit of a jolt, and I do apologise. I'm hoping that if both chapters 7 and 8 are read in succession, the scene change won't feel as sudden. The main party is split up quite extensively at this point, so we're going to have to do some mad hopping between them to cover all the ground required in a timely fashion. Please tighten your seat belts for these hairpin turns! ;v;* (And of course, do let me know if you start finding the jumps jarring so I know what *not* to do next time. :'D)

Btw, Rulerbrain surprised me with this cool thing, inspired by the current tournament stuff going on... Kylie faces a familiar(?) opponent!

It tickled me pink and I love it! XD check out the cool ice effects going on at the same time, ehehehe <333 Thanks so much Rulerbrain!! ;v;* (Rulerbrain is the rulerbrain behind the webcomic Crazies Inc!)

Thanks for reading everyone! I hope I can get back to posting timers again, soon. :)

See you guys tomorrow with Friday Flare! :D

Hmmm, I hope it will work...

...and that they have the right direction...

(yayyy, Neeemmmiiiii!!! <3 )

rufiangel 13th Mar 2017, 11:10 AM edit delete reply
Hahaha, wouldn't it be plain embarrassing if they got the wrong direction XD
DLKmusic 9th Mar 2017, 7:20 PM edit delete reply
If you're up to date on what's happening with everyone, the jolt isn't too bad, and it's nice to see Jinn and Nemi working together.

I'm still really worried about Cain though, It hasn't gone unnoticed that the Defender has Cain being left alone in his cell for a long time, just like he was asked to do.

Re Rulerbrain's Fanart.... Use the Force, Kylie, USE THE FORCE!!!!
DLKmusic 11th Mar 2017, 9:28 AM edit delete reply
Last night, I reread the entire series (because I obviously can go without sleep),
I need to retract something I said several pages ago about Nemi, in the Nemi-Jinn argument conflict.

One of the things I have been holding against Nemi is that she is planning on leaving with her friends to go raid Denrir villages, and do exactly what Jinn said was the reason he hated the Kajini. While this is still true, I was also holding it against Nemi that she was keeping this a secret.
After re-reading, I caught the conversation between Kylie and Nemi in the Hot-springs of Spherea, and Nemi did try to tell Kylie what she was planning. (comic 245 and 246)

I still have a hard time with what she is planning on doing, but I won't accuse her of trying to keep it a secret from everyone like I had been doing.

And for all the Jinn haters, please give him SOME credit for trying.

rufiangel 13th Mar 2017, 11:20 AM edit delete reply
Aw DLK, please make sure you get sleep too! :'DDD though I'm obviously pleased you wanted to re-read <3 ;v;***

It's hard for me to respond to this without incurring spoilers, so I'll just smile mysteriously and give an annoying Madou-like wink here ;D
rufiangel 13th Mar 2017, 11:18 AM edit delete reply
I'm glad to hear the jolt isn't too bad! Actually, I think Nemi is just watching Jinn work on this plan XD; at least she's not hindering him, though?
Cain has been left alone for quite some time, eh? ... >_>
(Kylie's idea of 'force' is to turn her opponent into a block of ice, so she'll do her darndest XD)
Centcomm 9th Mar 2017, 7:43 PM edit delete reply
this could go very well or very badly.. lots of whip flying around.. >_<
rufiangel 13th Mar 2017, 11:20 AM edit delete reply
Ikr? :'D But don't worry Centy, not too much spaghetti here! ;D

So, if I read your alt-text correctly, you're basically McGyver. ;-)
rufiangel 13th Mar 2017, 11:21 AM edit delete reply
I would definitely be if I could open a titan-grade prison cell using just paperclips and string, yep XD
Lukkai 9th Mar 2017, 10:24 PM edit delete reply
Jinn showing off some of his skills. Regardless of what one might think of him, the guy is not stupid. Didn't take him a lot of observation to determine the characteristics of both the gauntlets and the cell doors/bars. And to formulate a plan from it.

Re: Alt text: Video!
rufiangel 13th Mar 2017, 11:24 AM edit delete reply
Jinn was always the talker of the two when he and Mikey went to negotiate with other merchants. ;) It's too bad he fails to employ observational skills when a cute girl comes his way... -v-

I wish I could show a video, but I trashed the set up after I tested it. It was very scrappy XD;;
Lukkai 9th Mar 2017, 10:25 PM edit delete reply
And as to the fanart: Strike him down with all your anger!
rufiangel 13th Mar 2017, 11:25 AM edit delete reply
Wouldn't that turn her to the dark side or something XD
MST3KFan 9th Mar 2017, 10:44 PM edit delete reply
Time to play the Metal Gear Solid music. Someone find Jinn and Nemi some cardboard boxes to sneak around with now.
Lukkai 10th Mar 2017, 8:26 AM edit delete reply
"Who's there?"
rufiangel 13th Mar 2017, 11:26 AM edit delete reply
@MST3K: If this were an RPG, I'd TOTALLY put that mini-game in XDDD
Jarvi 10th Mar 2017, 3:11 AM edit delete reply
Archer, you cute helpful birdie, don't get into trouble for freeing prisoners xD

And good thinking there, Jinn :D

Lastly... I think that is a pretty big flaw overlooked, if you just need something that doesn't trigger the death buzzez and you can slide door like this.

Lukkai 10th Mar 2017, 8:28 AM edit delete reply
Though prisoners would usually not have access to anything they could use to move the doors without touching the bars. So it's not that much of a problem unless they get outside help.
Jarvi 10th Mar 2017, 2:19 PM edit delete reply
Yeah yeah, I forgot to add that it works when someone is helping from the outside ^^' It still is a pretty big problem. Especially if you've been thrown to cell once, you know that next time you need a fried to help you out ;)
If it was so easy to open even from the inside, it would be a pretty moronic gate xD Now I'm just saying that overlooking outside help is a pretty big flaw, especially that we do have organized crime groups active.
Lukkai 11th Mar 2017, 9:30 AM edit delete reply
On the other hand: Outside help might just be able to organise whatever's necessary to open the cells the usual way. As a matter of fact: That is quite likely easier than getting a magical device similar to these bracers. And it is so pretty much regardless of how you build the cell.
The only real way around that, well partly around that, is to place a big number of guards around the cells. Big enough that bribing enough of them to spring the prisoners becomes too expensive except in some very rare cases.
Jarvi 11th Mar 2017, 2:33 PM edit delete reply
I guess you are right. If those magical bars react or most of the materials that can be easily obtained like cloth, wood, clay (and those crystals, the guards use are magically enchanted) then it should be a good idea.

But I couldn't help but have a little giggle about the second part of your argument, the guards, as two men just entered that place, and one of them is Archer who doesn't come off as a master of sneakiness ;)
Lukkai 13th Mar 2017, 3:38 AM edit delete reply
That is a good question, actually.

Where are the guards?

I mean: There should be at least some around.
rufiangel 13th Mar 2017, 11:34 AM edit delete reply
Where ARE the guards? XD;;;

Actually, the guards should be the first and hardest tier of defense to break on this floor. I should note that these holding cells are not too heavily guarded in the first place since they're only temporary holding cells (reserved for people who have caused a ruckus in the tavern XD; or perhaps stolen a wallet for example, but not seen as super dangerous - there's a different cell arrangement for that) BUT there's still a suspicious ease of access. Nadine mentions he took care of the guards (whatever that might mean) so... that's probably how Archer got past. But then with all that grinding racket going on with forcing the bars to slide open, shouldn't there be patrol guards rushing in at this point? Hmmm... ;)
Lukkai 15th Mar 2017, 11:37 PM edit delete reply
Depends on just how he "took care" of them.
rufiangel 13th Mar 2017, 11:27 AM edit delete reply
@Jarvi: Jinn can be a smart cookie sometimes! XD and I like how you call Archer a cute helpful birdie, lol <3
The Accidental Ninja 10th Mar 2017, 5:06 AM edit delete reply
The Accidental Ninja
Okay, okay, Jinn. Yes, I'm impressed, and yes, you can be kind of cool when you're not being a Jinn-jerk.

It would be very amusing to see you trying to simulate this with paper clips and tape xDD Whenever I'm writing this type of stuff in stories I'm usually just like "Ehh it'll work somehow. And if not, MAGIC." x'DD
rufiangel 13th Mar 2017, 11:40 AM edit delete reply
Aww, Jinn!! Someone thinks you can be kinda cool!! ;v;*** There you go! *happily hugs Jinn like the mama of a very unruly boy who rarely gets compliments* XD

I almost always take the 'MAGIC the answer is MAGIC' route (I think I literally wrote that when talking about how Rince 'melted' marble, or when Seia got blown inside out) but this particular case I did want it to make sense specifically because they *weren't* using magic (though of course, those gauntlets are pretty special).

Pretty sure people would have found it amusing how I spend my time when I have some XD;;; amusing and possibly sad XDD

Seabiscuit 10th Mar 2017, 7:22 AM edit delete reply
Ah, I hope this doesn't... Backfire terribly! D:
rufiangel 13th Mar 2017, 11:41 AM edit delete reply
What about if it only backfires a little bit? Is that okay? XD
CiciEnixa 10th Mar 2017, 8:10 AM edit delete reply
The fact that you went and tried this with paperclips now makes me imagine Nemi and Jinn have been in a tiny paper box cage with paperclip bars all this time and they could've just... poked their way through any other wall XD

If you still have the setup... PICS PLS!!! XDDD
mjkj 10th Mar 2017, 8:45 AM edit delete reply
...or like Lukkai said: video (please?)... =)
rufiangel 13th Mar 2017, 11:48 AM edit delete reply
Sorry Mjkj! :'D No can do, but maybe next time I do a similar experiment -v-)/
rufiangel 13th Mar 2017, 11:48 AM edit delete reply
Actually, if you sello-tape everything it can get pretty darn hard to punch through it :'D really!!!

And I wish I had pics but I trashed it after I finished my test, it was so scrappy XD (and I needed the paperclips back LOL)

Yea!! Crafty non-magical smarts to the rescue!

I hope I'm not interpreting Briar wrong, but I think he'd forgive Archer for being absent for this situation >.<
Lukkai 11th Mar 2017, 9:32 AM edit delete reply
Archer would probably still prefer not having to explain it at all.

And while Briar quite likely would forgive him, there's no indication that his father would do so as well if he found out. (Which becomes more likely every minute that Archer spends down there.) Not to forget this might actually be in violation of Archer's contract.
rufiangel 13th Mar 2017, 12:18 PM edit delete reply
@Lukkai: It's interesting you bring that up - the next page and the page after will probably raise even more questions about this XD;;; but we'll see in time~! (I hope I can remember to provide some answers in the timeframe I've got :'D)
Lukkai 15th Mar 2017, 11:44 PM edit delete reply
I probably should elaborate:

Archer completely by chance (really?) stopping whatever the Zircs planned down there would probably be fully in favour of our dear Defender. Especially when he's got perfect deniability of being involved in it. After all, he completely held up his part of the deal. It's not his fault that they screwed up by not watching their backs against other parties showing up. And as for Archer: A citizen stumbling upon and stopping an illegal intrusion into the prison block would actually be worth of praise. Certainly not cause any punishment.
Springing the prisoners however is a different thing. In that if word gets out that Archer was involved, he can't help but punish him for that kind of illegal conduct. Also, them getting free too soon might screw up what he has planned for Kylie.
Him being who he is, he probably has contingencies in place though.
rufiangel 13th Mar 2017, 12:17 PM edit delete reply
<3 Hehehe, crafty non-magical smarts... I like it! XD

We'll see pretty soon how Briar's taking Archer's MIA-ness XD; but I'd say you have a pretty good handle! ;)

And for insult to injury leave a note on his comatose body for the guards to find: *Thanks for helping us escape, sorry about leaving you unconscious but you Were tied up at the moment.*

Guard A: What do you think happened here?
Guard B: I don't know, but whatever it is, we'd better... *puts on sunglasses* knot get strung along.

Wow, within a week I managed to read to this point, I have taken a journey through tears, excitement, fear, and laughter. My biggest tear right now being shed that I have reached the point of having to wait for more of the comic to be released. I curse IStabOreos for bringing me to this fantastic comic when it's not yet near it's end. Please keep up the good work Author!
rufiangel 13th Mar 2017, 12:24 PM edit delete reply
Perfect Turtle Soup, thank you so much for such a kind comment!! ;3;*** (And thank you so much IStabOreos for introducing a friend to SF! <333 though I'm sorry you're getting cursed :'D)

It's true we've got some ways to go before SF starts wrapping up, but I do my best to update as consistently as I can ;v;* I'd be very happy to have you along for the ride as we trundle along! Thank you very much for taking the time to let me know how you've been finding it so far, it really means a lot to me <333
iStabOreos 16th Mar 2017, 5:01 AM edit delete reply
I'll gladly accept this curse as a token that I got you addicted. (P.S. funny enough, PTS here brought up a good point in Madou's character, how it's very frightening how much that character is similar to an RP character I made named Krono, who's a fire mage.(P.P.S. crap that means more Shrek songs.)
